Volunteer Opportunity with Toronto SickKids Hospital

We've secured a partnership with the SickKids Reading Room, and are looking for dedicated volunteers who would be willing to volunteer for 1 hour bi-weekly reading stories to a live audience of children. Additionally, live footage recorded by a video camera will be broadcast across the hospital and to various patients and their families via internal feed. Successful applicants should have a moderate-to-strong grasp of English, and should be comfortable speaking to a [possibly] large group of children. Previous experience working with children and/or knowledge of a second language is an asset, although is not required. Selected applicants will be contacted by e-mail for a subsequent interview.

Reading at Sick Kids Hospital

Volunteers will reading to a live audience of children in the hospital's reading room, while kids who are unable to medically unable to physically attend can watch the reading live via the hospital's internal TV network.
The reading sessions not only help the young patients develop valuable reading skills, but also aide in the youngsters' recovery process. This program is an excellent opportunity for GKUT members to give back to the community.

Peer Mentorship

Take a first year student under your wing and help guide them through their confusing freshman year through our peer mentorship program. Third or fourth year students from all faculties and academic disciplines are encouraged to participate as volunteers. There is no greater source of information for university life than someone who has been there and done all of that.

Scott Mission

Many of us have a warm bed and hot meals to come home to. However, those less fortunate are quite literally left out in the cold. Help make a difference in the lives of those who are down on their luck by volunteering at the Scott Mission shelter. Currently, we are looking for volunteers to help out in food service, kitchen preparations and in the storage room.

Book Drive for Better World Books
